PRIVACY POLICY — TEST BUDDY CHROME EXTENSION
Last updated: September 2026

1. OVERVIEW
Test Buddy ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension that provides
QA testing tools to help developers and testers work more efficiently.
This privacy policy explains what data the Extension collects, how it is
used, and how it is protected.

2. DATA WE COLLECT
The Extension collects only the minimum data necessary to provide its
features:

Website Content (Spell Check only)
When you use the Spell Check tool, visible text from the active web page
is sent to the LanguageTool public API (api.languagetool.org) for
grammar and spelling analysis. No page URLs, personal data, credentials
or metadata are transmitted — only the text content you choose to check.

Locally Stored Data
Test case recordings, bug report drafts, tool settings and user
preferences are stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in
storage API. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible
to us or any third party.

3. DATA WE DO NOT COLLECT
We do not collect:
- Your name, email address or any personally identifiable information
- Passwords or authentication credentials
- Browsing history or page visit records
- Location data or IP addresses
- Financial or payment information
- Any data from pages you visit unless you actively use a tool

4. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
The Extension communicates with the following external services:

LanguageTool (api.languagetool.org)
Used by the Spell Check tool. Only visible page text is sent.
Privacy policy: https://languagetool.org/legal/privacy

Pollinations.ai (text.pollinations.ai)
Used for optional AI-powered features. Only anonymised page structure
descriptions are sent — no personal data or page content.
Privacy policy: https://pollinations.ai/privacy

No other external services are used. Test Data generation uses Faker.js,
which runs entirely offline inside the Extension.

5. DATA SHARING
We do not sell, trade, rent or transfer any user data to third parties.
Data sent to LanguageTool and Pollinations.ai is governed by their
respective privacy policies and is used solely to return a result to you.

6. DATA RETENTION
All locally stored data (test cases, bug reports, settings) remains on
your device until you clear it using the extension's Clear button or
uninstall the extension. We have no access to this data.

7. PERMISSIONS
The Extension requests the following Chrome permissions solely to provide
its core functionality:

- activeTab: Access the current tab to run QA tools
- scripting: Inject scripts to record interactions and scan page content
- storage: Save test cases and settings locally on your device
- tabs: Detect the current page URL for test case recording
- webNavigation: Detect page navigation during test recording
- downloads: Save exported test cases and bug reports to your device
- sidePanel: Display the extension interface as a side panel
- tabCapture: Record screen for GIF bug reproduction in Bug Reporter

No permission is used for tracking, advertising or data collection.

8. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
The Extension is intended for professional use by developers and testers.
It is not directed at children under the age of 13 and we do not
knowingly collect data from children.

9. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be
reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of
the updated policy.

10. CONTACT
If you have any questions about this privacy policy or the Extension's
data practices, please contact us via the Chrome Web Store support page.

Test Buddy is built independently and is not affiliated with Google,
Anthropic, LanguageTool or Pollinations.ai.
